IDM offers M.Sc. Programmes
IDM Affiliated University College officially launched the M.Sc. programes of the University of Wolverhampton (UK). The launching ceremony was held at Ceylon Continental, Colombo. M.Sc. programmes delivered by the flying faculty of University of Wolverhampton (UOW-UK).
The University of Wolverhampton has areas of research ranked among the best in the world. Wolverhampton was the first to establish a virtual learning environment- Wolverhampton Online Learning Framework across campus which is extended to IDM.
IDM offers Canadian degrees
IDM Affiliated University College officially launched the degree programs of the University of New Brunswick (UNB), Canada, that are scheduled to be delievered through IDM Affiliated University College Campuses in Sri lanka. The launching ceremony was held at Hotel Renuka, Colombo. Dr Mike Alderson was the chief guest and IDM Affiliated University College Chairman Dr. Bandu Ranasinghe was the guest of Honour at this ceremony .
The University New Brunswick, established in 1785, is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Canada. The UNB joins the IDM Affiliated University College in introducing Canadian degree programs in Sri lanka for the first time in the history of education in the country. Initially the UNB will introduce two degree programs, fully accrediated Canadian internal degrees, Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSc CS) and Bachelor of Information Science (BISc) through the IDM Affiliated University for the benefit of the Sri lankan students.
IDM will be the off shore campus for the UNB Canada and will be conducting these Canadian degree programs in Colombo, Jaffna, Kandy and Matara for the benefit of the Sri lankan students who want to secure a degree from a well recognized university for better careers in Sri lanka or overseas.
ICT Research into Practice- Proceedings of IDM Research Conference- 20th December 2009
This inaugral conference was organised by the ICT Faculty of the Postgraduate Division of IDM Affiliated University College. IDM is affiliated to number of foreign universities which made it possible to elevate its position to the level of 'Affiliated University College' with many faculties, which is managed by a trust.
Support for Research work is one of the key initiatives of IDM Affiliated University College. IDM has decided to work on a 'bridging' role of taking 'ICT Research into Practice' IDM Strongly believes that there is a real need to bring together-Academia & Practitioners to exploit the opportunities offered by ICT to achieve sustainable economic & social growth in Sri lanka.
At this research Confference, Papers were presented by achievers of Postgraduate Degree Programmes offered through international affiliations. This is the first step towards building a formal research unit at IDM to support the Economic & Social Development in Sri lanka.
IDM expect to initiate Collaborative Research work with the Partner Universitie together witn Doctoral Level Research Programmes. The Flying Faculty of the foreign Universities who visit IDM provides students with academic support for research work. This provide IDM Students and staff to publish their research findings in National and International conference in the future. Awards were given for the Best Paper and Best Presentation to appreciate and encourage young researchers.
IDM Galle Branch Parents Day Meeting
Dr. Bandu Ranasinghe, the Chairman of IDM Group of Companies, addressed the Parents and explained the importance of ICT and higher education.
IDM Certificate Award Ceremony for Beginners
Certificate award ceremony for students who successfully completed their beginners’ diplomas was held at IDM City Campus #1 on 7th November 2009.

Accredited Partner Centre Celebrates 20-Year Relationship with NCC Education
Professor Felix Stravens, Managing Director of NCC Education, was honoured to attend an event to celebrate the Institute of Data Management (IDM) Sri Lanka’s 20 years as an Accredited Partner Centre. One of NCC Education’s first Accredited Partner Centres (APC), IDM is now one of the largest APCs in NCC Education’s global network. Established in 1984, IDM has grown rapidly and is respected throughout Sri Lanka for its expertise and experience in the fields of IT and business education and training.

Professor Stravens was delighted to meet with the Chairman of the IDM Group of Companies, Dr Bandu Ranasinghe, and IDM’s Director of Studies Mr Lionel Perera. The IDM staff were presented with a commemorative plaque and a framed photograph of the Middle East and South Asia support team. During the event Professor Stravens gave presentations to IDCS and IADCS students about the NCC Education degree journey, and announced the launch of scholarships for the highest achieving diploma students at IDM.
To mark the 20th anniversary, NCC Education and IDM are offering a 20% discount on examination fees for students who join the IDCS programme before 20th February 2010.
"For those who are employed in the public sector or their relatives, a reduction of 20% on examination fees is offered by NCC Education, and an additional 10% discount on the programme fee by IDM. This offer is valid until 10th October 2010."

IDM Affiliated University College – The Main Sponsor for JEF 2009
IDM was proud to be the Main Sponsor for the Inaugural Education Fair in Jaffa Peninsula. The event was organized by “pico Events” (A division of SLECC). Indeed the event was made possible due to the untiring efforts made by His Excellency The President Mahinda Rajapakse, The Defence Secretary Mr. Gotabaya Rajapakse, all chiefs of the forces, and their forces whom were there who defeated terrorism from the forefront to reunite the Mother Land.
IDM, The Nations ICT Academy, The Unchallanged Pioneer in ICT Education In Sri Lanka, operating in Sri Lanka for the past 28+ years 5+ years in Jaffna with four branches, was indeed proud to be the Main Sponsor of the event. IDM, decided to become the Main Sponsor of the program, solely to take the educational programs enjoyed by students in the South to the Northern students.
The Event was held on the 15th & 16th of September at Jaffna Central College, with 40+ Institutions taking part. Also parallel to the event a Singing competition was organized. There were 3500+ visitors for the programme, out of which we received more than 2000 inquiries for all the programmes.
For those who participated for the exhibition we offered a Mega Scholarship for 400 students (out of 1341 applicants) worth of 2.8 Million Sri Lankan Rupees in celebrating our 28 years of operations in Sri Lanka.
IDM Affiliated University College – Chavakachcheri Branch Opened
Parallel to JEF 2009, IDM was proud to open its 57th Branch in Chavakachcheri, in the presence of our North & East Regional Director Mr. V Janagan. The Chief Guest for the event was Professor Thangarajah, Head of Department – Physics, University of Jaffna. The opening was graced by several distinguished guests from the region and also officials from IDM Head Office.
With the Installation of the branch, now IDM Has 5 Branches’ in the region with having Branches in Jaffna, Chavakachcheri, Nilliyadi, Chunnaham & Manipay.
